Oracle GoldenGate – Configuration (MA/CA)

Preparing the environment:

  • Decide NLS and mixed-case object name issues.
  • Set database parameters.
  • Set the initialization parameter ENABLE_GOLDENGATE_REPLICATION to TRUE to allow Oracle GoldenGate to use RDBMS server. The parameter controls the supplemental logging feature that is required to support data replication.
  • You can optionally set the RESOURCE_MANAGE_GOLDENGATE parameter to TRUE (the default is FALSE). This parameter determines whether Oracle GoldenGate apply processes in the database are resource managed.
  • Setup a database to access Oracle GoldenGate.
  • You may enable supplemental logging at three levels i.e. Database Level, Schema Leve or Table Level
    ALTER DATABASE ADD SUPPLEMENTAL LOG DATA; — enable Log Miner Technology and write extra logs into the Redo.
  • ALTER DATABASE FORCE LOGGING; To force logging even session defines NOLOGGING
  • Create a wallet and credential store (optional for CA and required for MA).
  • Enable supplemental logging.
  • Configure the optional CMDSEC file (CA only).
  • Verify tcperrs settings.
  • Start the Manager process (CA only).
  • If you plan to transform on the source system, create a target definitions file.
  • Configure an optional heartbeat table to monitor lag history.
  • Change Capture (Extract).
  • Initial Load.
  • Change Delivery (Replicat).
